Ali 'Imran 3:190

إِنَّ فِى خَلْقِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَٱخْتِلَـٰفِ ٱلَّيْلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ لِّأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ
In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, are signs for people of understanding

The description: ulū-l-albāb — those who possess the "kernel / inner core" (lubb), i.e. those who possess reason. The list of actions is three postures: qiyām (standing), quʿūd (sitting), junūb (reclining on the side). These three states cover nearly every posture a person takes across day and night. The verse says that remembrance and reflection are not bound to a particular time or place of worship — they are a continuous habit, never withdrawn to the background, across all the states of the day. Reason is not a special moment; it is a condition interwoven with the very posture of life.
Observation
The alternation of night and day results from Earth's rotation on its own axis; one complete rotation takes approximately 24 hours. The day-night cycle regulates the circadian rhythm (biological internal clock) of living organisms; this rhythm encompasses hormonal, metabolic, and behavioural cycles calibrated to the light-dark alternation.
Exegesis
Classical exegetes note that "lubb" names the kernel within a fruit's rind, so that ulū-l-albāb are those "who can look past the outer appearance to the core": al-Rāzī says it is striking that ʿaql and tafakkur come together within a single verse — reason (mental grasp) and reflection (carrying meaning into the core) complete each other. Al-Qurṭubī observes that the three postures form an expression of semantic completeness, the verse showing that worship and reflection are possible in every state in which the flow of life is not broken. Elmalılı says the verse's "fī khalqi-s-samāwāti wa-l-arḍ" section shows that the observation of heaven and earth is not a separate time of worship but a work interwoven with the continuity of remembrance.
